Removal of old vellum window as well as supply and fit of new one, including all flashings and fittings as well as the supply and fit of a blackout blind for the window.
I first contacted Mark, knowing he was a Velux authorised fitter (and these things need to be done right!) and having heard about him by word of mouth. His response was prompt and, before we knew it, after supplying photos, we had a quote and decided to go ahead with the job.
We were advised up front there would be a bit of a wait due to his workload and that wasn''t a problem but, as soon as we decided to go ahead, we were given a date and a timescale of everything from payment to delivery of window to a site visit by Mark himself. A nice addition was the personal pick up from supplier and delivery of window by Mark personally, to eliminate the chance of any damage to unit by a third party courier. Very happy with that little touch.
All impressive thus far!
Fast forward a few months and everything promised has come to fruition and we are good to go. Around three weeks before the date of fitting, Mark contacted us to say a few days had become free a week prior to the agreed date and would we be interested - our call completely. We jumped at the chance.
The day arrives and Mark turns up at 8am on the dot. We have the room ready and Mark gets to work. We''ve had tradesmen in the house before, and had readied for the noise etc but, honestly, you''d be forgiven for forgetting Mark was in the house, such was the less-than-minimal disruption experienced (a great thing as I work from home.) Apart from the delivery of the odd cup of tea to Mark, we just left him to get on with it. Brilliant! At the end of the day, at 6pm, Mark takes us up and details all the work carried out thus far and his plan for the second, and final, days work. He had also left the bedroom clean, tidy and habitable for that night. Again, who could ask for more?
The next morning (8am on the dot!) Mark turns up and gets on with it. Day two mirrored day one in the minimal disruption area. We never even heard him carry the window up the loft ladder (I''m starting to think this guy has spooky powers or is a witch or something!)
Again, at 6pm, Mark calls us upstairs and indicates to the finished window. Perfect in every way. No torn wallpaper, chipped finishings, nothing. It was as if the window had been there all along. (at this point I was convinced he DID have spooky powers - who does this with next to no noise and no swearwords!? It''s not natural!)
The work was second to none and the room was immaculate - and I mean immaculate! Not even our white carpet had a mark on it! (SPOOOOOKY powers!) He then detailed every aspect of the window and blind, explained his personal guarantee and told us if there were any issues whatsoever, to get in touch immediately. Honestly, you couldn''t have asked for better service.
It''s now been about three weeks since the fitting. I wanted to give it a bit of time to allow the weather to test the window. We needn''t have worried. Everything is as it should be with the added bonus of this window being considerably more soundproof than our last one.
And that''s it. Our experience with Mark McGuire. To clarify, before this job, I never knew Mark at all so this truly is an Independent review and my wife and I cannot fault his service, start to finish, in any way. If you''re considering getting vellum windows fitted, look no further than Mark. You truly will not be disappointed.
